MP Xavier quits PKR and declares support for Muhy | Daily Express Online

SHAH ALAM: Kuala Langat MP Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar
(pic) on Saturday announced his immediate resignation as Vice President and member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Xavier said following the events which have unfolded in the past year, he has grown extremely frustrated.
He said while there are parties discussing the possibility of elections, this is not necessary or viable at this point in time.

“Our current priority should be to support the Government in containing the Covid-19 pandemic, to create jobs and to secure funds to rebuild the economy. 
“It will take at least 18 months just to complete the vaccination programme and more than two years for the economy to fully recover,” he said in a statement on his official Twitter account.

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said two PKR federal lawmakers have defected to the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
Muhyiddin announced the defections shortly after photographs of him with Julau MP Larry Sng and Tebrau MP Steven Choong emerged online.
“Today, I received the statutory declarations from two Opposition Members of Parliament stating their support for the Perikatan Nasional government,” he said on Facebook.

He added that the SDs were delivered to him by the two defecting lawmakers after a gathering of the Cabinet to mark the one-year anniversary of the PN administration in Putrajaya.

Kuala Lumpur: Despite all the speculation and drama in the last few weeks, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government’s Budget 2021 was passed 111-108 in its third reading in the Dewan Rakyat Tuesday.
Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun announced the absence of one MP when the Opposition called for bloc voting. It is believed the missing lawmaker is Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah from Barisan Nasional.
