Dino: Modernized Calbayog Airport a boon to E. Visayas' economic progress, tourism growth

The newly upgraded airport will transform Calbayog City and Samar province as the new transportation hub in Eastern Visayas and will help boost the region’s economy, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Dino said during the inauguration of the airport.
The Calbayog Airport underwent upgrading by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), together with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). This is another milestone in the Duterte Administration’s Build, Build, Build program.
Aside from Secretary Dino, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco led the inauguration of the Calbayog Airport held Wednesday, May 5.

'Malasakit Help Kits' given to airport passengers on Mother's Day – Manila Bulletin

The initiative, spearheaded by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, aims to show the agency’s appreciation for mothers through tokens of gratitude that will make their travel more convenient and comfortable. The DOTr supervises CAAP, which is one of its attached agencies.
Malasakit Help Desks (MHDs) welcomed the traveling mothers with freebies and personal care products.
CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco also extended his greeting to all moms on the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9.
“To all moms who continue being the strong and genuinely loving people they are, we thank you, honor, and appreciate you, especially during these difficult times,” Sydiongco said.

CATBALOGAN CITY, May 6 (PIA) -- The new Calbayog City Airport will boost the economy of the City and province as said by Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade during its inauguration on May 5.
The Secretary toured and unveiled the Calbayog City Airport Marker together with Office of the PresidentialAdviser to the Visayas Michael Dino, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Jim Sydiongco, Governor Reynold Michael Tan, Vice Governor Angelica Teodoro, Samar 1st District Representative Edgar Mary Sarmiento, An Waray Representative Bem Noel, and Calbayog Mayor Diego Rivera .

2 airport projects in Lapu-Lapu City to be inaugurated

GOVERNMENT officials will inaugurate on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, two development projects in the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA): the airport’s new taxiway and the administration building of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
The extended taxiway is expected to increase passenger traffic and aircraft movement in the general aviation area of the MCIA. This will also accommodate wide-body aircraft in preparation for future expansions.
According to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, around 60 jobs were generated during the construction of the taxiway, and “more employment opportunities are expected as a result of the expected increase in the number of aircraft using the new taxiway.”

Dumaguete ports capable of serving more travelers after twin upgrade

More travelers can now be accommodated at the Port of Dumaguete and Dumaguete Airport in Negros Oriental after the two ports underwent improvement works during the lockdown.

DOTr trumpets twin inauguration of key infra projects in Dumaguete; Find out what they are

The back-to-back inauguration of projects will formally mark the start of operations of the upgraded Port of Dumaguete and the newly-developed Dumaguete (Sibulan) Airport.
President Duterte will grace the twin event as the guest of honor and keynote speaker, with Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade and other officials from the national and local government units also in attendance.
“We need to roll up our sleeves and make haste. These projects that we are developing should be utilized by the Filipino people in no time,” Tugade said.
One of the projects to be inaugurated on Thursday is the upgraded Port of Dumaguete, a project of the DOTr and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) that involves the construction of a two-storey Port Operations Building (POB). It can accommodate around 500 passengers.
