REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- Filipina pada Kamis (29/7) menyambut kedatangan 1,5 juta dosis vaksin Covid-19 Sinovac Biotech, China. Batch terbaru dari dosis yang dibeli pemerintah tiba pukul 7:30 pagi di Bandara Internasional Ninoy Aquino.
Pemerintah mengharapkan untuk menerima satu juta lebih dosis Sinovac pada Jumat (30/7). Gugus Tugas Nasional Penanggulangan Covid-19 Filipina mengatakan telah menerima lebih dari 32,8 juta dosis vaksin Covid-19 dari Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya, Pfizer, Moderna, dan Johnson & Johnson. Sinovac menyumbang bagian terbesar dari stok vaksin negara itu.

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has retracted a decision to end a key defense pact with the United States, allowing large-scale combat exercises between U.S. and Philippine forces that at times have alarmed China to proceed.
Duterte's decision was announced Friday by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in a joint news conference with visiting U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin in Manila. It was a step back from the Philippine leader's stunning vow early in his term to distance himself from Washington as he tried to rebuild frayed ties with China over territorial rifts in the South China Sea.

The deal has been prolonged three times since then, most recently in June after months of negotiations between the two sides.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - The Philippines says it has fully restored a major security agreement with the United States, with President Rodrigo Duterte retracting his intention to terminate the Philippines-U.S. Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) late Thursday.
Filipino Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana told reporters at a news conference with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday that Duterte, after his meeting with Austin, retracted the VFA termination letter sent to the U.S. last year.
"This provides us some degree of certainty going forward, so we can plan further in advance," Austin told reporters. "And with that long-range planning, we can actually do more comprehensive exercises."
