Council considering $3.8M for county employee raises, benefits Compensation would replace COVID-19 hazard pay policy that was eliminated February 23, 2021 | 10:02 pm Logo from Montgomery County Montgomery County employees could get a pay raise. County Executive Marc Elrich has asked the County Council to approve about $3.8 million as a supplemental appropriation for raises. Elrich worked out a deal with three county employee unions for the raises after the county eliminated extra “hazard pay” for people working closely with the public during the pandemic, such as administering COVID-19 tests or vaccines. After pressure from the council to end coronavirus hazard pay or create a plan to fund it, Elrich and three unions agreed to end the hazard, or differential, pay. It ended on Feb. 14.
