10 MAY 2021, MANILA The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), through Projects SIKAP and T3, highlighted the importance of vaccines to the recovery of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during a recent online forum which tackled COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.
Attended by more than 350 participants from all over the country, the webinar, “Bakunang Ligtas, Negosyong Bukas: Championing MSME Health and Safety” was the first part of an online series focusing on MSME resilience beyond the pandemic.

DTI: Allowing personal care services, indoor dining in NCR Plus could restore additional 500,000 jobs

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 29)   Approximately half a million more Filipinos could get back to work if the government allows personal care services and indoor dining to resume in NCR Plus subject to capacity limits even if it remains under the second strictest lockdown, Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said Thursday.
Castelo said 1.5 million workers were temporarily displaced when the strictest enhanced community quarantine was imposed in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal for two weeks due to the huge spike in COVID-19 cases. The number went down to 1 million when NCR Plus eased to the less strict modified ECQ on April 12, the official said. The MECQ declaration in the greater Manila area was extended until May 14. ....

PCCI honors medical frontliners


The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) led the private sector in recognizing heroes in the medical community during this pandemic via the Gawad Bayaning Kalusugan award that was presented to the initial batch of 24 awardees.  
PCCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico said this is their way of honoring healthcare professionals “who continue to risk their lives on a daily basis just so others may live”.
