Georgia Tech Travels to Face No 13/12 Virginia

THE FLATS – Riding a five-game winning streak, Georgia Tech returns to the court Saturday for an 8 p.m. ACC road contest against No. 13/12 Virginia at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va., the second of two contests Tech faces against top-25 teams this week. The Yellow Jackets (7-3, 3-1 ACC) got the better of the first such contest Wednesday night, an 83-65 homecourt win over No. 20/22 Clemson following a 17-day pause in their schedule. Tech has won seven of its last eight games following an 0-2 start to the season, including homecourt wins over North Carolina (72-67) and Wake Forest (70-54) in its last two games before the shutdown. Tech has been efficient offensively in its ACC games, averaging 71.5 points while hitting 51 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from three-point range while turning the ball over just 12.3 times per game.

Tech Men Listed in Preseason ITA National Rankings

Andres Martin, Marcus McDaniel, Keshav Chopra and redshirt-sophomore Pablo Schelcher represented the Yellow Jackets in the Oracle ITA Division I Preseason Rankings released on Wednesday. McDaniel and Schelcher were slotted as the No. 31 doubles pairing in the nation, while Martin and Chopra ranked No. 41. McDaniel paired up with senior Carlos Divar to take down No. 33 Miami’s 15th ranked doubles duo of Franco Aubone/Benjamin Hannestad 6-2 on Feb. 23, 2020. Schelcher went 2-0 in ACC doubles play in 2020 picking up wins over No. 40 Clemson’s Mike Agee/Jacob Jahn ,6-3, (Feb. 28) and No. 15 Florida State’s Sebastian Arcila/Marcus Walters ,6-3, (March 1).

Georgia Tech Resumes ACC Play vs North Carolina

THE FLATS – Looking for its third straight win, Georgia Tech resumes Atlantic Coast Conference play against North Carolina with an 8 p.m. tip Wednesday night at McCamish Pavilion. It is the first of two straight conference games at home for the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets (4-3, 0-1 ACC) have won four of their last five games following an 0-2 start, including a pair of homecourt wins over Florida A&M (74-64) and Delaware State (97-69) the weekend before Christmas. The Yellow Jackets also knocked off No. 20 Kentucky (79-62) at State Farm Arena and Nebraska (75-64) on the road before dropping its Atlantic Coast Conference opener Dec. 15 at No. 15 Florida State (74-61).
