Lawsuits blame utility for starting Gray fire

Two lawsuits have been filed against a utility for allegedly sparking a fire in eastern Washington this summer that killed a man and burned about 240 homes. KREM-TV reports that a lawsuit filed Monday representing a landowner in Medical Lake says Inland Power and Light Company's electrical equipment contacted or caused sparks to surrounding vegetation that started the Gray fire on Aug. 18. The second lawsuit, filed on behalf of 44 fire victims, says an Inland Power utility light was seen sparking near the origin of the fire.
