I thought I knew what I was getting into with
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Nintendo has now released remasters of basically all of the Wii U’s most acclaimed games, polishing them up with only a few additions sprinkled here and there. For people who haven’t played these games before, it’s nice to get to experience some overlooked classics. But for those of us who owned the Wii U, there’s usually not a great deal of value outside of the better visuals and performance. This new Switch remaster is a pleasant surprise, then, as its new Bowser’s Fury add-on is almost a brand new mainline Mario game in its own right.

It’s here! Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury became available for actual purchase late last night, giving players the chance to take on the giga version of Bowser from Super Mario Sunshine once more, this time with Bowser Jr. serving as Mario’s unlikely ally. It will be interesting to see how this partnership shakes out in the game, as players may recall Bowser Jr’s vow to battle Mario once more at the end of the GameCube classic.
This continues a series of ongoing Nintendo merchandise and game releases centered around the 35th (!) anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. games, which began life in 1985 with the NES classic, Super Mario Bros.

Bowser's Fury Shine locations: Where to find all 100 Cat Shines in the Super Mario 3D World expansion


How do Cat Shines work and how many Shines are there in Bowser's Fury?
Hidden throughout the lake and the many islets of Bowser's Fury, there are 100 Cat Shines in total to collect. You don't need that many to complete the game, but if you want them all you'll have to search high and low to find them all.
Each island has its own lighthouse, and each lighthouse has five Cat Shines. Of those Shines one is always Bowser Block, and another is always collecting five collectibles hidden across the island. Two Shines on each lighthouse need players to leave and return to the island before they can be found. Once a lighthouse has all its Cat Shines, you will see a Mario flag hoisted at the top.
