In a typical African society where women are largely relegated to the background in many fields of human development, it is more often than not, very difficult for women, in general, to excel in very challenging environments where men have often failed.
The story is no different for women here in Ghana who try to venture into the difficult terrain of politics. However, Frema Osei-Opare has against all odds proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the Ghanaian political space.
From a very humble beginning at Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, who could have imagined she would break the jinx in an area where men had dominated since the days of independence to become the first female Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana. ....

Meet the evergreen, elegant, affable, and hardworking first female chief of staff of the Republic of Ghana, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare. Auntie Frema, as she is affectionately called, has been the aide-de-camp of President Akufo Addo since January 2017 when he assumed the reins of power.
Auntie Frema brought to the presidency some 40 years of experiences from the field of academia, politics, development consultancy, labour and employment. In the field of development consultancy, Auntie Frema has once been a consultant for the United Nations in the ‘Women in Fisheries’ programme in countries such as Uganda, Ethiopia, Congo, Kenya and Namibia. ....

CPPE calls for peaceful elections in Ghana
The Coalition of Professionals for Peaceful Elections (CPPE) wish to applaud all Ghanaians for a generally successful Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
We take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to all stakeholders, particularly, to all Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates, the Electoral Commission, the Security Agencies, and indeed the entire voting population.
We take note of the few isolated cases of unacceptable occurrences that may have negatively impacted this rather successful elections, and call on our Security Agencies and all relevant institutions to act expeditiously to resolve all outstanding issues.
We further call on all political parties and actors to exercise restraint during these times as the Electoral Commission carries out its mandate under the laws of Ghana. ....
