Nairobi, 19 February 2024 - The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) today released its Annual Report (2023), which details the work of the organization last year to provide key science and solutions on the triple planetary crisis, convene and support environmental negotiations, host critical multilateral environmental agreements, work to align funding with global processes, and support Member States to deliver on their commitments.

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system to consider the results of work in sectors of the national economy in January this year, as well as some topical issues of state activity...

We are facing a triple planetary crisis: the crises of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. The best solutions to deploy are those that hit a number of challenges at once.

The report shows how the organization began to deliver on its new 2022-2025 strategy. It posted wins across the triple crisis that will help the world start to make good on its promises to restore ecosystems, reduce the burden of air pollution and protect millions of people in vulnerable developing nations in the face of growing climate impacts.

At a time when multilateralism must transcend geopolitical strife and tackle three environmental planetary crises; delivering climate action, nature action and pollution action. This work is at the heart of UNEP’s mandate.
