Safer speed limit for State Highway 60, Paines Ford to Tākaka

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has set a new permanent speed limit for the stretch of state highway from Paines Ford to Tākaka, in Golden Bay/Mohua, to improve safety for everyone who uses the road.
Waka Kotahi Director of Regional Relationships Emma Speight says the new speed limit of 80km/h from 100m south-west of Paines Ford Bridge to 270m south of Motupipi Street, will be effective from Wednesday, 5 May, 2021.
“In 2019, members of the community approached Waka Kotahi asking to make the seasonal speed limit along this section of State Highway 60 permanent as they felt the 100km/h speed limit was too fast. ....

Paines Ford to Tākaka section of Golden Bay highway to drop to 80kmh

Golden Bay resident Linda O Connor, pictured in 2019 when she and some other members of the community called for a permanent reduction in the speed limit between Tākaka and the Paines Ford bridge. O’Connor says the announcement of a drop to 80kmh is “great news for the whole community”.
The speed limit on the Golden Bay section of State Highway 60 between Paines Ford and Tākaka is to be reduced permanently to 80kmh from May 5.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says in a statement that it has lowered the speed limit from 100kmh for that stretch of the highway “to improve safety for everyone who uses the road”. ....
