COVID-19: Noida receives overwhelming response as 98% turnout recorded in phase-3 vaccination drive

Noida News: The city administration has prepared a list of 424,555 beneficiaries for the third phase which includes 220 vaccination booths in 26 hospitals.

Noida: On Monday, Noida records over 98 per cent turnout of citizens participation for the vaccination process, as phase 3 of the Covid-19 vaccination drive for people above 60 years of age and those over 45 years with comorbidities rolled out. 
Phase 3 of Covid vaccination started on March 1 for people who are above 60. The vaccine was administered in three hospitals which includes SJM super speciality hospital in Chhijarsi, district hospital in Sector 30 and the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida.

NOIDA: As the city gets ready for the second day of the vaccination drive on Friday, government and private hospital officials said they are getting scores of queries about the shots, with most being about efficacy and side-effects.
Doctors attending to these queries said many senior citizens and patients with comorbidities have expressed reservations about the vaccine and want to wait for a few months before deciding to get the shots themselves.
While the District Hospital at Sector 30 has more than 700 patients visiting its OPD daily, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, has about 200 people. Yatharth and Sharda hospitals get about 400 patients in each of their OPDs daily.

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Covid vaccines were transported to four centres in Ghaziabad on Friday for the inaugural day inoculation drive on Saturday. About 400 healthcare workers will be vaccinated between 10am and 4pm. Similarly, in neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar, vaccines were sent to 13 cold chains from the district vaccine store in Sector 39. From the cold chains, the vaccines will be sent to the designated six centres early on Saturday morning, where about 600 healthcare workers will receive the shots.
Though a government doctor will be deputed at each centre in both the districts to deal with any adverse effects following immunisation (AEFI) cases, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida and District Hospital in Noida Sector 30 will be the main centres to deal with any adverse cases. Sharda hospital has also kept a 30-bed ICU ready for the purpose.

GHAZIABAD/NOIDA: The wait for the Covid vaccine is finally over, with Ghaziabad and Noida receiving consignments of Covishield on Thursday for the first round of vaccinations.
A total of 27,410 doses of Covishield arrived in Ghaziabad from Meerut on Thursday afternoon amidst tight security. Officials said the first batch has 2,741 vials of 10 doses each, which are being stored in the main vaccine store at MMG District Hospital under police vigil.
District magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey and chief medical officer Dr NK Gupta, along with other administrative and health officials, received the vaccine amid clapping and jubilation. The DM made a swastika mark on the ice box in which the vaccine was transported and broke a coconut in front of the vaccine van before the consignment was shifted to the vaccine store located adjacent to the IDSP unit.

In a first, Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Dr Mahesh Sharma will be administered the COVID-19 vaccine on January 16 (Saturday). Sharma also chaired a meeting with the doctors of the district on the vaccination drive. Meanwhile, the first consignment the COVID-19 vaccines reached Noida amid tight security on Thursday. Preparations for vaccinations are in full-swing in the district. 
As many as eight web booths have been identified for the vaccination drive from 10 am to 5 pm. The eight booths are - Government Institute of Medical Sciences​, Sharda Hospital, Child PGI, District Hospital, JayPee Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Reality Hospital and Kailash Hospital. According to the strategy, as many as 100 health workers will be vaccinated in each booth.

The 'dry run' for the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccination was done at six places in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Tuesday, officials said. The mock drill for the vaccination was carried out at the Super Speciality Paediatric Hospital & Post Graduate Teaching Institute in Noida Sector 30, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and Sharda Medical College, both in Greater Noida.

NOIDA: One of the two residents, who had returned from the UK recently and were admitted to Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) after testing Covid-19 positive, was on Wednesday detected with the UK variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The two patients were admitted to GIMS on Saturday.The Noida woman is the second person from the state to have tested positive for the new virus strain. A day earlier, a two-year-old, who had returned from London along with her parents on December 14, was found positive for the new mutant Covid-19 strain.
The sample of the woman, (33) who had returned on December 17, was sent to CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi, where genome sequencing detected the mutated virus variant.
