The Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the suspension of the Chief Judge of Osun State, Oyebola Ojo, by the state government.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the suspension of the Chief Judge of Osun State, Oyebola Ojo, by the state government and the appointment of Olayinka Afolabi in his replacement. The body of lawyers, however, declared that it would not recognise Afolabi as the CJ of Osun State, while vowing that it would ensure that the decision of the state government does not stand. The State House of Assembly had Thursday, during plenary ordered the suspended Justice Ojo to step aside pending the outcome of the investigation against her.
The NBA says the Osun State Chief Judge cannot be appointed or removed without recourse to the NJC.
The condemnation is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by NBA National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Lawal,
Civic organisation, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to reverse immediately the unlawful removal of Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of the state. SaharaReporters reported earlier that the Osun State House of Assembly had on Thursday, during plenary ordered that Justice Ojo should step aside pending the outcome of an investigation against her.
