North Dakota grain regulation bill would expand Agriculture Commissioner's power

The Hunter Hanson fraud in 2018 resulted in a shift of regulatory authority of grain from the North Dakota Public Service Commission to the North Dakota Agriculture Department. A bill going through the 2021 Legislature would move more control from the courts to the North Dakota agriculture commissioner.

Fearless Grain Marketing and Jeremey Frost seek $8.5M in arbitration

Jeremy Frost is seeking $8.5 million in a National Grain and Feed Association arbitration against Indigo Ag of Memphis. Indigo Ag has asked a federal judge to deny Jeremey Frost’s request to dismiss their lawsuit against him and his Fearless Grain Marketing company. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission so far has not sued Frost and Fearless in a state/county court for allegedly buying and selling grain without a license. Amanda Reiss, SDPUC attorney, says the agency hasn’t yet filed a case in a state court against Frost.

Wildfire burns into central Montana town, destroys houses

A late-season wildfire pushed by strong winds ripped through a tiny central Montana farming town overnight, burning several homes and grain elevators that had stood for more than a century, authorities said. Officials were assessing the damage in Denton on Thursday morning while crews continued to fight the fire. The fire burned “around 25 structures to include grain elevators and bridges,” the Fergus County Sheriff's Office posted on social media Thursday morning.
