Buses clad in colourful Wellington-themed wraps designed by kids to hit the roads


“I was inspired by snorkelling in the Taputeranga Marine Reserve.
“For my design I wanted to show other people in Wellington what it was like under the sea and how many creatures live in the marine reserve.”

Ellie’s design features famous scenes and landmarks from around Wellington including the Beehive, Matariki - the southern right whale, and Michael Tuffery’s Nga Kina waterfront sculpture.
The buses made their maiden voyages in their new livery, ferrying the designers and their families from Grenada Village to Island Bay. The buses will serve on the number 1 route from Johnsonville to Island Bay from late April.

Metlink says sorry after more than 100 buses cancelled in Wellington over four days


With people being encouraged to stay home while sick, services were more prone to driver illness.
“We're supporting our operators in their recruitment efforts as they continue to minimise the impact for customers as much as possible.”
The service was hoping to recruit around 50 additional drivers to the network.
He wanted to apologise for the frustration and inconvenience caused by the cancellations.
“We recognise the heroic efforts of our drivers who have worked through the various alert levels this past year, some of who are now taking well-earned breaks.
”Despite the superhuman efforts of our drivers they do have their own health, age and family considerations.”
