The Pella Community School District and Pella Police Department are investigating an incident in which a preschool student was left unattended in a district-owned vehicle Monday. According to Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling, a child was left inside a parked vehicle alone in the bus lot for approximately two and 1/2 hours.The driver of the van did not drop the child off at the preschool, as was typical practice. Quarantine numbers for the Pella Community School District significantly dropped this week as it related to COVID-19. For the past five days, less than 0.2% of all students were isolated and participating in online learning due to close contact for the virus. Absences remained near normal over the past five days, with 1.7% of the student body out of school Friday. Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling says no positive COVID-19 tests among students have been reported since spring break. Additionally, staff has gone three days without missing for a COVID-19-related reason.
