કોરોનાના 13 મહિનામાં 1210 વડીલો વૃદ્ધાશ્રમ પહોંચ્યા, જેમાં 60% માતા, પ્રવેશ માટેની ઇન્કવાયરીમાં 300%નો વધારો
કોરોનાકાળમાં લોહીના સગપણમાં પણ ઓટ આવી છે. રાજ્યનાં વિવિધ શહેરોના વૃદ્ધાશ્રમમાંથી મળેલા છેલ્લા દોઢ વર્ષના આંકડા આ તારણ આપે છે.રાજ્યભરમાં કુલ 355 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમો છે. અમદાવાદ, સુરત, વડોદરા અને રાજકોટના 52 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાંથી મળતી જાણકારી મુજબ કોરોનાકાળ પહેલાં આ વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં 2310 વૃદ્ધ હતા. આ સંખ્યા હવે વધીને 3520 સુધી આંબી ગઈ છે, એટલે કે 1210નો સીધો વધારો છે. અમદાવાદ અને રાજકોટના ઘણા વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં વેઇટિંગ છે તો વધતી સંખ્યાના કારણે રાજકોટના કેટલાક વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં નવા રૂમ્સ- ફર્નિચરની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી રહી છે. વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં મોકલાતા વડીલોમાં 60% માતાઓ છે.
અમદાવાદ, સુરત, મુંબઈથી પણ અરજીઓ આવી રહી
કોરોના પછી પ્રવેશ મેળવવા માટે રાજકોટ, સૌરાષ્ટ્ર ઉપરાંત વડોદરા, મુંબઈ જેવા મહાનગરોમાંથી અરજી આવી છે. અરજદારો પૈકી કેટલાક વડીલો સુખી સંપન્ન પરિવારના પણ છે કે જે એકલાવાયું જીવન જીવી રહ્યા છે અને પોતાનું કામ જાતે કરવા માટે હવે સક્ષમ રહ્યા નથી તેઓ પોતાની બાકી જિંદગી વૃદ્ધાશ્રમમાં ગાળવાનું પસંદ કરી રહ્યા છે.
અરજદારોને ના પાડવી પડે છે
કોરોના પછી નવા અરજદારો વધ્યા છે. કેટલાક તો કયારે પ્રવેશ મળશે તેની પૃચ્છા કરે છે. અત્યારે નવી અરજી લેવાનું બંધ કર્યું છે. અમે બીજા વૃદ્ધાશ્રમ કે અન્ય શહેરમાં સંપર્ક કરીને નિરાધાર,વૃદ્ધ,વડીલોને આશરો અપાવી દઈએ છીએ તેમ વૃદ્ધાશ્રમના સંચાલક મુકેશ દોશી જણાવે છે.
4 મોટાં શહેરોમાં વૃદ્ધાશ્રમની સ્થિતિ

રાજ્યના ચાર મોટા શહેરોના વૃદ્ધાશ્રમના વડીલોની સંખ્યા 2,310થી વધીને 3515 થઈ છે. સૌથી વધુ 40 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમ એકલા અમદાવાદ શહેરમાં છે.
વૃદ્ધાશ્રમમાં વડીલોનો આશરો લેવા માટેનાં આ મુખ્ય કારણો
જે ઘર છે તે નાનું છે. આટલા નાના ઘરમાં બધા સભ્યોનો સમાવેશ શકય નથી.
નિ:સંતાન હોય એવા વૃદ્ધો જેમણે નોકરી ગુમાવી હોય કે આવકનું સાધન ન હોય.
સંતાનો માતાપિતાની સારસંભાળ માટે સક્ષમ ન હોય. દીકરો માતાને રાખવા તૈયાર છે પણ પિતાને નહીં.
સાસુ-સસરા સાથે પુત્રવધૂના અણબનાવ. ઘણા કિસ્સામાં પુત્ર-પુત્રવધૂ
કોરોનાને કારણે આર્થિક સંકડામણ વધી. ટૂંકી આ‌વકમાં ભરણપોષણ કરવું શક્ય નથી.
ગુજરાતના 11 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં સરવે
કોરોનાની બીજી લહેરમાં વડીલોને સૌથી વધુ જોખમ હતું. આ સ્થિતિ છતાં ગુજરાતના વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં કેસ અને મૃત્યુ મામલે નહીંવત અસર થઇ છે. ઇન્ડિયન ઇન્સ્ટિટ્યુટ ઓફ પબ્લિક હેલ્થ, ગાંધીનગર(IIPHG)ના ડાયરેક્ટર ડૉ.દિલીપ માવળંકરના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ ડૉ. જલ્લવી પંચમીઆએ ગુજરાતના 11 સહિત મહારાષ્ટ્ર, રાજસ્થાનના મળી કુલ 30 વૃ્દ્ધાશ્રમો સરવે કર્યો હતો. ગુજરાતના 11 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં બીજી લહેરમાં માત્ર 7 કેસ જ નોંધાયા છે જ્યારે આ વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાંથી એકપણ મૃત્યુ નોંધાયું નથી.
બીજી લહેરમાં 7 કેસ, એકપણ મોત નહીં
રાજ્યના જુદા-જુદા શહેરોના વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોનો સ્ટડીમાં સમાવેશ કરાયો હતો. પહેલી લહેર બાદ ગત ડિસેમ્બર મહિનામાં 13 વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં કરાયેલા સર્વે મુજબ, એ વખતે 3 મૃત્યુ અને 44 કેસ નોંધાયા હતા. સંચાલકોનું કહેવું છે કે હવે જ્યારે કોરોના નાબુદ થશે પછી અત્યારે જે વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાંથી સગાંઓને ત્યાં અથવા બીજે ગયા છે તેમને પાછા આવવા કહેવાશે. ગુજરાત જેવું જ રાજસ્થાનના વૃદ્ધાશ્રમોમાં પણ જોવા મળ્યું છે. કેસ અને મૃત્યુદર બહુ ઓછા છે. જ્યારે મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં કેસ અને મૃત્યુદર વધારે છે.
