reason as a limited government conservative, i said for months now that i think both sides ought to stand down. >> joining us now to discuss, cnn political commentator and former white house communications director and our cnn political analyst, natasha alford. thank you both for being here. this call is remarkable. in the sense that desantis has been towing the criticism of trump. this is probably his most direct shot yet. telling donors this guy cannot beat biden. >> i tend to agree with him in a general election. i think 2020 bore that out. i don't see him hitting up more independents in 2024, the numbers in the general are very comparable desantis head-to-head with biden as they're trump head-to-head with biden. this is a decent wunt to make. that can't be the whole thing. he has to take trump on directly. and he has to draw policy juxtaposition into the point that you read in the open which is he's actually many ways

those comments from donald trump junior. we are joined by michael steele. i want to ask you about this. we heard it was striking to hear one after another of attendees say how much they love donald trump. why do they maintain faith in a person who lost the house and the senate and then his own re-election, to say nothing of january 6 and the like? what is the basis for that? hasn't it been proven the guy cannot win for their party? >> it's just not about winning. absolutely, for the party regulars and the establishment, that's the end game. but for these guys, donald trump represents something more. he represents the permission to say and do and behave the way they have, to push back against the culture, to push back against the democrats and the liberals in the country, to push back against this idea of what america is evolving into versus

certainly who serve in our party. what the other party does in terms of what they consider ethical is up to them, but republicans should be very clear that at a minimum, we expect our republican elected officials to be honest, to be very clear and forthright, to not play hide the ball in terms of their income and so on and make inappropriate use of campaign funds and the like. we should have a high standard that we demonstrate that we're committed to that for our own members, and then we should apply that standard across the rest of congress. this is kind of a false equivalence to say only if he's violated the law then should he be expelled. he could be expelled for whatever reason the members of the house of representatives choose. and clearly, that meets the threshold if we're serious about being an honest part aand a party that places a premium on people who are in office for the right reason and are honest and can be trusted to do the people's business, which clearly this guy cannot be. >> yeah, we should note it has been a few decades since an

this? nothing. biden is silent. we thought a "new york times" reporter would ask the press secretary about the strike but they didn't show up to the briefing today this chair is reserved for a "times" reporter? looks like they were on strike, too. so "primetime" reached out to the white house and we haven't heard anything back. biden needs to be careful with his answer here. this is a tricky and sticky situation. one wrong move and he could have thousands of new enemies in the press. big guy cannot afford that. let's turn it over to joe concha, fox news contributor and the hill columnist. am i having too much fun with this strike? >> there is so much to unpack from that package and from that monologue. did you see the guy with the bernie sanders hat. >> jesse: i did notice that. interesting. >> jesse: where is bernie? isn't he out there with the little sign? i haven't seen bernie. he should be shoulder to shoulder. >> he has the gloves for them. >> the rat was there but apparently that was paul krugman.

stained its beauty so that is when i'm not voting for him for president. thank you. >> jesse: do you want to take on, judge, fetterman for president line, or do you want to talk about the dude, the second dude? >> jeanine: i want to talk about kamala. how could he push her? she has the lowest approval ratings, did not even make it to the iowa caucuses, the woman has been giggling like she has been laughing the whole two years so far. she hasn't said anything smart. and she just giggles. every picture, i mean, it is so disappointing for women. emhoff, i don't know who he is, i don't care who he is about i don't think she is going anywhere. let's talk about fetterman, the guy cannot get out of his own way but it works for a democrat. if you're not a quality candidate on the republican side you, you do not get elected, but if you are an idiot who hides either in a trojan horse like joe biden or fetterman or, what's her name, katie hobbs, you get elected. >> jesse: the best fetterman line, while the rhythm of to support fracking?

drives a tesla. i love that so much for their like screw this guy cannot believe it. but i don't blame him for though think i would add to this as a silver lining is the idea half the people on twitter is a box comes as a relief to me i don't show others that make crazy people the world's if you tell me twitter's 10% real that is good news not bad news. pleasure buying it. >> right now twitter is saying they're going to sue, right? they are hoping that a judge will force elon musk to go through with the deal for. >> thing about a series of events so dramatic that a billion-dollar penalty is not enough. you got to buy all of it that billy and you're going to give me is not going to help. if you look at the up and down of the stock value which other factors are involved. elon certainly has been a driving factor the belly of twitter going up and down as he purchases we started purchasing 9%. the first headlight way back when he might be the deciding vote for the board.

i don't want any other family to go through what we have gone through. and that's why this guy cannot get out of jail. he has no remorse. he has no regret. he has not been rehabilitated and he has a hair trigger range. he's very dangerous to society. he can't be let out. >> kerry, i don't think i have ever heard that story before. it's unimaginable. iz know where i was. i was a kid reporter. i was in the newsroom late that night because of the california time distance. and it had come only months after dr. king's death. so 1968 was a horrendous year for the nation, but for your family, eight children at the time. eight children were left without

parts for those who are freedom love. unlike tear down this wall, the iron curtain is descending. there was a wonderful book written about the tear-down-this-wall line and richard haass was there, it was very much discussed before it was put into the speech and debated. of course, joe biden does what joe biden does, just blurt out what he believes and it is the truth. i think it was a good moral statement. we don't do regime change, it is up to the russians to do it, but he is right to express a moral sentiment that given the world we live in today, given what russia did, good lord, this guy cannot stay in power. everybody is calling it a gaffe, but typical of what is called a gaffe when someone blurts out a truth, but i think it was a

you can't enforce immigration law anymore under the biden administration. this guy cannot look his agents in the eye every day and keep saying no to them. you can't do your job. you can't uphold your oaths. he quit. of i will tell you something. there is 24 field office directors across the nation. i talk to almost all of them. they would all quit today if they could. but they have got mortgages and children in college. they are all miserable. the morale is destroyed. this agency is not the same agency it ever has been before. >> this has never been a party problem. we all agree on the arrest, criminals in our midst. when you cross the border. you broke the law. it was never a party problem. now democrats say come one, come all. and republicans say are you insane? since when does that work in our country's best interest? don't worry, the vice president is on the job. and she outlines her priorities. and it's all about other countries. let's look at this together, tom. number one, address economic inequality. you know we have to settle nawj inequality when it comes to central and south america.

>> laura: people today tweeting out photos of like one of his eyes, bloodshot thing going on. that happens sometimes. now, the guy cannot even have a bad eye day. it's like every syllable is amplified. and yet he's running for president. so you will have your missteps and you don't know where you are, what state you are in, that will be added up into the weights fit for office. that is what is resonating, is it not? >> definitely. there is concerns that part of this is joe being job at a tipping point perhaps if he has more of these. if they get more, worst of a situation where flooding a war like previously and can't figure out what state he's in. can't remember stories accurately. those are the kind of things that i think will add to that. again, he is in many ways, while he is considered the front runner and polls, given his past. history and the democratic party is now, it?
