assembled. as you point out, the 25 different victims and family members that have assembled and the head of the boston police department will evans is in the courtroom and ed deveaux is in the courtroom and we are seeing the different camera and media representatives outside of the courthouse and again we're waiting to know the verdict any minute now in the trial after the jury has been behind closed doors. a combined 11 hours over the last two days combing through 30 different counts 17 of which are capital charges in the boston marathon bombing that killed three people and injured more than 260 back on april 15th of 2013 that sent boston and the communities around boston on lockdown for four days until the tsarnaev brothers one, tamerlan was killed and dzokhar was
the m.i.t. police officer who sat in his patrol car on campus. they know they were both there but they don't know who pulled the trigger. on the boston marathon bomb it was clear that tamerlan pressed the detonator that caused the first bomb to go off but the government could not prove whether dzokhar tsarnaev had his own detonator or control or whether tamerlan pushed that too. that is why the heart of the government's case was they are in this too and that is the approach to the case the jury has accepted without reservation. >> right now we are up to 14 counts against him, found guilty. still dealing with any and all of the charges having to deal with april 15th. we are now up to count 15 where he has been found guilty. again, this has to deal with the date of april 15th. and we just want to make sure that we are giving you the date distinctions here because that was the date -- >> reporter: now the next -- the next couple of counts 16-19, as
face on all of this when he was talking about boston, it is a small community and the marathon is a 26 mile block party and that is what it is. during the marathon, boston is family and this was just one big family that pulled together both in their strength and unity and work to bring this case to where it is right now. >> john how quickly will this move. i'm getting a moment at 2:08 we have the judge and the jury filing into the courtroom. and our insider is saying tsarnaev is looking at the door toward the jury members. this will move rapidly from this point. >> it is quickly -- >> tsarnaev just stood and the verdict is about to be ready. i'm getting the notes as quickly as possible. the judge is reviewing the charges, going through page by page. there were 30 pages in the
type of connection to people either involved that day at the scene or thereafter. remind us again how long they've been behind closed doors and stretched over how many days? >> doors and over how many days? >> reporter: two days four hours today. you talked about conspiracy and the other about aiding and abetting. they wanted to know about the difference between aiding and abetting and whether conspiracy is a single event or over a period of time. according to the indictment the conspiracy, the two brothers began in february of 2013 and lasted until april 19th and the day of the shootout in watertown. >> okay. adam, i'll ask you to stand by. joining me now on set is co-host "the cycle,"ary mel bur, are you surprised how long it has taken the jury this amount of time 11 hours over 30 different charges
richards, that was brutal testimony. so you don't know what impact that testimony, those visual exhibits would have on a human being. you try to place yourself on the jury, but you can't do that. but we're going to find out what the intent of the jurors is. >> so when we think about how the community, after this happened on the 15th again almost two years ago to the day. it happened on april 15th. they didn't capture dzhokhar tsarnaev until the 19th. this was a city on lockdown a community on lockdown. take us back, mike to that time period and the quick police work that went into this investigation to figure out it was these two young men that were behind it. >> yeah well they had photographs of the two young men within 36 hours. video cameras are in and around the scene of the bomb.
in relation to a crime of violence, being the weapon of mass destruction. and count four weapon of mass destruction, pressure cooker two. again there were two different pressure cookers set off on thatdy. we understand there is no reaction in the courtroom. he has remained stoic during the process. and again if you are joining us he has been found guilty on counts one two, three and four. >> and this is very significant. this tells us the jury is positioning direct guilt on dzokhar tsarnaev for use of wmd's at the marathon bombing to kill americans. >> stand by. we're learning -- again if you are just joining us that tsarnaev has been found guilty on the first four counts 30 charged against him, with this jury having 11 1/2 hours behind closed doors to trying to comb through and figure out his guilt
>> john kelly is also with us former former prosecutor. to many this would seem to be a slam dunk not only in the preparation but what happened in the days after. how much do you think the defense, judy clark, did. how much do you think her words are carrying with this jury? >> i don't think anything at this point of the trial -- when you mention a slam dunk slam dunks require a lot of meticulous work. and whether it was boston p.d. or the u.s. attorney offices, the witnesses or the victims, a lot of work went into making this case. the appearance of slam dunk it was. something mike barnacle said when i was listening, it is not a legal view i think he put a
conclusion of this trial, especially among people who followed the trial closely and read or heard about the testimony given, the autopsy results of young martin richard, the brutal way he died the intent of dzhokhar tsarnaev putting the backpack with his bomb in it right behind the little boy. we're going to find out, obviously, when the penalty phase comes to a conclusion, but it's been a mixed feeling. they just want the trial over. they want justice done. and i assume that justice certainly will be done at about 1:45 time. >> so mike, just to remind everybody exactly the toll that was taken on the community, three people were kill more than 260 were injured when the explosion happened during the finish line at the marathon. then we have the whole incident with the m.i.t. -- the loss of the officer sean collier. then with this jury knowing
second. we've just gotten word that there's a verdict in the dzhokhar tsarnaev trial in boston. they're going to be coming back the jury that is around 1:45. they will be revealing the verdict that has been reached. let's check in real fast reverend, stand by. we have adam reiss standing by at the courthouse in boston. i think this is old video that we're showing, just to be accurate here. the video we have up guys. adam, are you standing by? >> yes, thomas. we can tell you that they will read the verdict at 1:45. jury deliberated for about 11 hours, yesterday for about 7 hours, today about 4. yesterday they had two questions, one related to conspiracy. the other related to aiding and abetting. 96 witnesses over about a one-month period, 16 days of testimony. they have a verdict, and we should hear about it momentarily. >> again, there were 30 different charges in the charging documents that they had
