Feb 19, 2021 Southern Local fifth-grader Delaney Beadnell (center) earned the top spot at the district spelling bee after correctly spelling the word “tangents” in her final round. Beadnell will move on to the county bee on March 3 and potentially to the national spelling bee later this spring. A spell-off was also conducted to determine second- and third-place with those posts respectively going to eighth-grader Mystia Myers (left) and fifth-grader Jensen Allender (right).
