Single goal makes difference between Dixon and Wood
In a defensive girls soccer battle Friday night, Dixon High School required only one goal to defeat Will C. Wood at home 1-0 in a nonleague matchup. Dixon’s lone goal was a beautiful one, soaring over the Wood keeper’s gloves just under the crossbar in the 72nd minute. And other than the one moment of offensive brilliance, the game was largely contested in the midfield, with each team struggling to establish a passing rhythm and failing to convert on copious set pieces.
