Crews have partially contained an out-of-control wildfire burning in the Halifax area, but officials warn there’s a lot of work left to do.
Crews are battling a large fire at the historic Waegwoltic Club in Halifax, as Nova Scotia deals with scorching temperatures and out-of-control wildfires.
An estimated 200 structures have been destroyed by the wildfire so far that’s burning in the Tantallon and Hammonds Plains areas of Halifax, including 150 homes.
"Don't be surprised if you smell smoke while outdoors," the NWS said as it warned smoke could reach the Mid-Atlantic region tonight.
A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for parts of Bedford, N.S., just outside Halifax, due to a wildfire and potential ammonia leak.
