Embattled contractor Halifax Group has requested the termination of a R33m project to restore the historic Kariega railway sheds.
The contract between the metro and Halifax Group, the main contractor for the beleaguered Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) bus shelters, has been terminated. The multimillion-rand bus shelter project was meant to see eight shelters built to accommodate stops along the route. The only two constructed were partially completed when Halifax downed tools in February 2021 over payment disputes.
It has been almost two years since construction on the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) bus shelter project was halted and the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality and contractor are yet to find common ground.
