Workplace inspectors to target Ontario construction sites

More than 200 workplace inspectors will target 1,300 construction sites across the province starting Friday, Ontario’s Labour Minister Monte McNaughton announced Thursday.
“Public health measures need to be practiced while workers are on the job site and on a break because this virus doesn’t take breaks,” McNaughton said.

He said inspectors have conducted 17,442 construction job site visits since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020 and stopped unsafe work 26 times.

The three regions are the latest to move back
Toronto and Peel entered the strictest “Grey-Lockdown” category, as requested by public health officials in both regions.
The new lockdown allows more retailers to open, with restrictions, but gyms and personal care services remain closed. Restaurants can only offer takeout, drive-thru, or delivery.
