13 Mar 2021 - 18:00 The Peninsula Doha: World Economic Forum has selected Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al Thani, Managing Director of Business Development at Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority, to join the Young Global Leaders (YGL) for the class of 2021. This recognition makes her the youngest and the only Qatari to join this year. Each year, the Forum of Young Global Leaders identifies the world's most promising leaders under the age of 40 who are driving innovation for positive change across civil society, arts, culture, government, and business. Sheikha Alanoud is one of only 112 driven researchers, innovative entrepreneurs, activists, and promising political leaders representing 56 countries to be selected for the Young Global Leaders Class of 2021. As a Young Global Leader, Sheikha Alanoud will be taking part in a five-year programme that offers executive education courses, expeditions, and opportunities to collaborate and test ideas among a trusted network of peers.

(MENAFN - Gulf Times) The College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently held a Virtual Graduate Studies Information Session for future students, both from Qatar and further afield. Interested students were able to engage with Dr Susan L. Karamanian, Dean of the College of Law, and faculty members, to learn about the curriculum and research-intensive graduate programmes, which all have a strong international and comparative law focus. Highlighting the pathways to develop their legal skills and gain professional experience both in and outside the classroom, faculty members gave an overview of the Juris Doctor (JD) degree, the first-of-its-kind graduate law degree in the MENA region, and the college's two LLM programmes in International Economic and Business Law and International Law and Foreign Affairs. Participants were given the opportunity to connect with the HBKU admissions team to better understand essential application requirements. The virtual event was an extension of a series of information sessions held by the university, across all six colleges, this academic year.
(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Doha: The Hamad Medical Corporation's organ transplant programme which has shown 100 percent success rate in kidney transplant over five years is set to expand and begin lung and pancreas transplants soon. Preparations are underway to perform the first lung transplantation in Qatar within weeks, said Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital and Director of Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation, Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, indicating that a heart transplant plan will start soon. 'Soon we will start the lung transplant programme, everything is ready. In about few weeks, we will probably perform the first lung transplant, said Dr. Al Maslamani, speaking in Al Jazeera Mubasher's 'Ma' Al Hakim (With Doctor) programme.
