Bid to 'boot' Speaker from office - ARAB TIMES

KUWAIT CITY, April 8: MP Badr Al-Mullah has prepared a petition to remove National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim from office. Al-Mullah disclosed that he waited for Al-Ghanim to announce the rejection of the request of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid to suspend the grilling motions filed against him until the next round of this parliamentary term but the latter did not do so.

This has prompted him to prepare the petition to remove Al- Ghanim from office and he will ask his colleagues to sign the petition. He affirmed the petition is in line with Article 118 of the National Assembly Decree; which allows a lawmaker to submit a proposal, bill or petition that will then be forwarded to the government. He said the Speaker violated the Constitution and law during the session on March 30, 2021 due to the suspension of grilling motions against HH the Prime Minister for almost one and a half year ....
