Meerut: Three elderly women walk in for Covid vaccine, get anti-rabies shots instead | Meerut News

MEERUT: Between 9am and 5pm every day, the community health centre at Kandhla town in Shamli runs the Covid-19 vaccination drive. On Mondays and Thursdays, it also organises anti-rabies vaccination camps. This Thursday, three elderly women walked in along with hundreds of others to get their Covid-19 shots. They walked out with anti-rabies shots instead.
Saroj Devi, 70, Anarkali, 72, and Satyavati, 62, had arrived separately but grouped together at the health centre. “The first floor of the centre is where Covid-19 vaccinations were being administered. The queue on the ground floor was for anti-rabies vaccination,” Shamli chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Agarwal said. “Instead of going to the first floor, they joined the queue on the ground floor.”

Three women administered anti rabies injections instead of Covid vaccine, probe ordered | India News

MEERUT: A probe has been ordered in the incident in which three elderly women were allegedly administered anti-rabies injections instead of the Covid vaccine at a government hospital in Shamli district.
"I have instituted an inquiry to find the truth in the matter. The probe will be done under an Additional CMO and a sub divisional magistrate who will take statements of the victims and also investigate what happened at the community health centre. If any discrepancy is found strict action will be taken against the culprit", said DM Shamli Jasjeet Kaur.
Notably, three women in the age group of 60 to 72 had gone for the vaccination and out of three, one woman Saroj Devi's health deteriorated by the time she reached home from CHC. She was rushed to a private practitioner who found that the certificate she carried mentioned administration of Anti-rabies injection.
