An official with National Weather Service spoke with 13News Now, after some people in Virginia Beach have shared concerns about not receiving tornado warning alerts.
Neighbors set up a table on Haversham Close full of food and water for public works and contractors working throughout the day.
“We were all in the right place at the right time," said National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Orrock. By working on site at the festival, he and his team were able to give city officials minute-to-minute in-person information as a tornado formed Sunday.
