The Marlins placed reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara and star slugger Jorge Soler on the injured list Wednesday, dealing a blow to Miami's postseason hopes. Alcantara is sidelined because of a right forearm strain, while Soler will miss time because of a right oblique strain. “This is something that broke my heart, but it is what it is,” Alcantara said before Miami’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

The Marlins lose two key players as they try to finish a push for a playoff spot.

Jake Burger had his first multi-homer game with the Marlins and Luis Arraez had a four-hit outing.

Miami slugger Jorge Soler left in the seventh inning of the Marlins' game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night because of right hip tightness. Soler swung at a pitch from reliever Erasmo Ramírez and stepped away from the plate. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker and an athletic trainer tended to Soler, who immediately headed toward the dugout.
