ADB Boosts Climate Resilience in Health Systems of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (19 July 2021) A six-year, pioneering regional technical assistance initiative has boosted the capacity of health systems in Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and Viet Nam to respond to climate-induced health threats amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced today.
The Strengthening Resilience to Climate Change in the Health Sector in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) project helped the three countries adopt national health adaptation plans to address weather-related health risks, including heat and communicable diseases such as dengue, malaria, heat stress, and diarrhea. ....

HÀ NỘI Two community infections of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Việt Nam, the first local transmissions for almost two months.
One of the new cases is linked to a woman who tested positive for the new variant of coronavirus after arriving in Japan to work earlier this week.
It has not yet been determined if either of the new detections are the stronger strain of COVID-19, but officials say as there is a connection to the case in Japan, extra precautions should be taken. ....
