DELAND – As CARES Acts funds run out this month with no guarantee of a second stimulus, Volusia County announced Tuesday that more than $30 million has gone to help residents and small business owners weather the COVID-19 pandemic. And it’s not over yet – residents have until 5 p.m. Dec. 30 to apply for rental and mortgage assistance. Those who qualify can receive up to $1,500 per month for three months. DAYTONA BEACH SHORES — When Jeff Brower takes office next month, beach driving advocates will have one of their own in the top seat on the Volusia County Council. Brower said he wants to not only restore beach driving to areas where it is prohibited today, but also prevent the loss of any other stretches of sand.
