Rhodes staff unfairly dismissed for refusing vaccinations, CCMA rules
Rhodes University may be about R400,000 out of pocket after the CCMA ruled as procedurally and substantively unfair its decision to fire two employees for incapacity after they refused to adhere to the varsity’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate. Chief technical officer in the zoology department, David Drennan, and computer science department secretary Heidi Myburgh were dismissed in April and June respectively, after they refused to be vaccinated.
