THE CONSTANCE & ROSE GANOE MEMORIAL AWARD FOR INSPIRATIONAL TEACHING by Craig Layne Voted on annually by graduating seniors and announced by the graduating class president during Commencement, the Ganoe award is the only student-bestowed faculty accolade at Dickinson. The award was established in 1969 with a bequest from the late William A. Ganoe, class of 1902. “Winning this award during a year of remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic is especially gratifying,” said Takacs. “I applaud my students for really showing up this year and for being brave and doing their very best to overcome all the challenges that the pandemic and remote learning have presented to them.” ....
Commencement 2021 Dickinson Honors class of 2021 With Virtual Commencement Dickinson College honored 485 graduating seniors with a Virtual Commencement Ceremony Sunday, May 23, during which Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder urged the graduates to change the world. “The fact that you chose to enroll in one of the world s preeminent colleges, and that you re now graduating into this crucible, means that you re right where you belong and right where we need your energy, your ideas for leadership, the most,” said Holder, who addressed the class via a prerecorded video. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which still prevents large gatherings, Dickinson held its 2021 Commencement virtually via Facebook Premiere.
