PH detects 225 more cases of 3 Omicron subvariants

MANILA - The country has detected 225 more cases of three Omicron subvariants -- 190 BA.5, 34 BA.4, and one BA.2.12.1 -- all based on the genome sequencing results as of August 9. Of the total BA.5 tally, 162 cases were from the Davao Region Western, 23 from Soccksargen, three from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and one each from Caraga and the National Capital Region (NCR). (Infographic courtesy of DOH) MANILA - The country's daily number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) more than doubled on Friday, with the Department of Health (DOH) reporting 13,363 new recoveries, from Thursday's 5,317. In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said this brought the overall recovery count to 2,586,369, or 95.6 percent of a total of 2,705,792 confirmed infections in the country.
