[ applause ] >> reporter: with that word, sukanya roy became the winner of the 84th edition of the scripps national spelling bee. the 14-year-old from pennsylvania beat out 274 other spellers. this was sukanya roy's third appearance in the national bee. immediately after her win she was speechless. >> it's hard to find the words. >> reporter: 13 spellers advanced to high pressure final round. they were quizzed with words that most americans have probably never heard of. >> rapprochement. >> hexafuse. >> reporter: the spellers tried any way they could to coax some
