GEORGE TOWN: The air was thick with the smoke of incense as tens of thousands of celebrants greeted the onset of the ninth day of Chinese New Year last night, colloquially called the Hokkien New Year.
GEORGE TOWN: Sugar cane, the main offering during the Thnee Kong Seh (Jade Emperor’s birthday), is back in high demand as this celebration on the ninth day of the Lunar New Year will be on a merrier scale this year.
GEORGE TOWN: After two years of muted affair, the Thnee Kong Seh’s (Jade Emperor) birthday celebration at Chew Jetty in George Town will resume this year.
DEVOTEES were back in full force for the Thnee Kong Seh (Jade Emperor’s birthday) celebration at the Jade Emperor God Temple at the foot of Penang Hill in Ayer Itam.
