Dr Pramod V Satya, a Consultant in Internal Medicine at Manipal Hospital Millers Road, said, “The same type of mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) responsible for spreading dengue also transmit the Zika virus. These mosquitoes are day-biting mosquitoes that usually bite indoors. They breed in areas where water accumulation is more.”
