Consent given for six-storey building in heart of New Plymouth CBD
The application was the subject of a hearing in February, and a decision was announced on Friday. Independent Hearings Commissioner Stephen Daysh said he was granting a consent because of the project’s “significant positive effects and benefits”. These include recognition in the building's design and concept of the cultural values of Ngāti Te Whiti hapū, the enhancement of amenity values adjacent to the Huatoki River, the provision of greater diversity of buildings, and economic benefits for the district.
