One of two suspected phone thieves has been arrested and charged after being attacked by residents in Hanover last week. Detectives assigned to the Hanover Division have arrested and charged 21-year-old Hugh Barret, otherwise called ‘Kurt’, of Green Island, Hanover with illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and robbery with aggravation. Reports are that about 9pm in the Grange district of the parish on Sunday, January 10, Barrett and another man, armed with firearm, drove up on a motorcycle to a business establishment and robbed a male of his Samsung cellular phone valued at J$15,000. It is further reported that the following day, Barrett and his accomplice were mobbed by citizens in the Rock Spring community. The accomplice reportedly escaped, but Barrett was handed over to the police and subsequently charged. ....
