This long weekend is feeling much longer for thousands of people who are still without power across the Island of Montreal. Hydro-Québec confirmed that as of Sunday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m., nearly 80,000 residents across Montreal do not have any power.
It looks like your Hydro-Québec bill will be going up again on April 1, but, thankfully, not enough to match inflation. In 2022, the company increased electricity rates by 2.6%, and the government promised to curb rate hikes as inflation crept higher. So, on February 15 of this year, the Quebec National Assembly passed a law capping Hydro rate increases at 3%.
