I-64 East at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel has reopened at reduced speed after Virginia Department of Transportation construction caused backups and lane closures Friday afternoon.
Authorities say the driver of a 2022 Kawasaki motorcycle, identified as 32-year-old Matthew David Campbell, was riding eastbound on I-64 to westbound I-264 when he lost control, ran off the road and hit the jersey wall.

A preliminary investigation found that Fife ran off the road to avoid a deer, before overcorrecting and overturning into a ditch. While Fife sustained serious injuries, they are not considered life-threatening, police say.
Fire and rescue are working to remove the driver from the vehicle and medflight is on standby for transport.
