Reps worry over NSA's report on missing record of ammunition purchased by ex-Service Chiefs

The House of Representatives on Friday expressed grave concern over a media report credited to the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, Major General Mohammed Babagana Monguno (rtd), alleging that the former Service Chiefs cannot account for billions of naira voted for the purchase of arms for the fight against insurgency and armed banditry.
The National Security Adviser who spoke in a BBC Hausa programme was quoted to have alleged that the new military chiefs had not seen any evidence of arms procurement in their records and hand-over notes on the assumption of office.
To this end, the Ad-hoc Committee set up by the House, to review the purchase, use and control of arms, ammunition and related hardware by military, paramilitary and other law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, chaired by Hon. Olaide Akinremi resolved to invite the Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru to appear in person to respond to allegations bothering on how weapons ....

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, flagged off its investigation into the quality of arms imported into the country worth several billions of dollars by President Muhammadu Buhari and his predecessor, President Goodluck Jonathan, over the past 10 years.
Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on the need to review the use and control of arms, ammunition and related hardware by Military, Paramilitary and other law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, Hon Olaide Akinremi disclosed this, in Abuja, while addressing representatives of newly appointed Service Chiefs and other paramilitary and security agencies, who attended the inauguration ceremony. ....
