According to a report by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), 86 thermal power plants in India, including six imported coal-based plants, have critical coal stock levels. These plants have less than 25% of the normative level of coal. The report states that 148 non-pithead domestic coal-based power plants have 29% less dry fuel stocks than the normative level, while 18 domestic pithead plants have 81% of the normative level.
