Economy Ministry expects economy reduction by 3% in Q4, 2020

The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture expects Ukraine's economy to contract by 3% in October-December 2020 compared to the same period a year earlier, Economy Minister Ihor Petrashko has said.
"We have already begun to see economic stabilization ... The decline in the third quarter remained at 3% of GDP and 3% of GDP is expected in the fourth quarter," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to the State Statistics Service, the decline in Ukraine's GDP in the third quarter of 2020 slowed down to 3.5% from 11.4% in the second quarter. In the first quarter this year it was 1.3%, while in the fourth quarter of 2019 there was an increase of 1.5%, in the third quarter 3.9%, in the second quarter 4.7% and in the first quarter 2.9%.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has recreated the Ministry of Agrarian Policy by canceling its accession to the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture in 2019.
The government made the relevant decision at an extraordinary meeting on Monday evening.
"This, in fact, gives a start to the creation of a new Ministry of Agrarian Policy," Economy Minister Ihor Petrashko said during the government meeting.

Employers submit over 7,000 applications for state aid for 170,000 employees

Employers have submitted over 7,000 applications for the state financial assistance of up to UAH 8,000 for more than 170,000 of their employees, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture said.
"The approximate amount of assistance under this program, according to employers' calculations, will be about UAH 677 million. The recalculation of funds in accordance with the applications will begin tomorrow, that is, from December 23," Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko said.
The largest number of documents was submitted by employers of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, the Economy Ministry said.

Representatives of Ukraine and the International Labor Organization (ILO) have signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the Decent Work Country Program for Ukraine for 2020-2024.
“As part of the National Tripartite Socio-Economic Council, Minister Ihor Petrashko signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Decent Work Country Program for Ukraine for 2020-2024. Heinz Koller, ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, signed the document from the International Labor Organization (ILO),” reads the report released by the Ministry for Development of Economy Trade and Agriculture.
The program includes three priorities: improved social dialogue; inclusive and productive employment; improved working conditions and social protection.

Ukrainians have submitted over 200,000 electronic applications for one-time economic assistance from the government to receive Hr 8,000 ($283) each. The money will help them continue working during the COVID-19 crisis, according to Economy Minister Ihor Petrashko.
Officially registered entrepreneurs who work in the industries that suffered because of the pandemic can apply for relief via the mobile application or website Diia by Dec. 31.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar, the Ukrainian government's press service has reported.
According to the report, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, international policy and cooperation in the field of defense and security. Grain harvest in Ukraine in 2020 totals 65.4 mln tonnes – Economy Ministry

In 2020, Ukrainian agricultural producers harvested 65.4 million tonnes of cereals and legumes from an area of 15.3 million hectares. The operational data of the regions on the results of the harvesting campaign was announced on Tuesday by Minister of Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko.
According to a report on the ministry's website, in particular, 25.1 million tonnes of wheat from 6.6 million hectares and 29.8 million tonnes of corn from 5.3 million hectares were harvested.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2019 Ukraine harvested 75.1 million tonnes of cereals and legumes (70.1 million tonnes in 2018), of which 28.3 million tonnes of wheat (24.6 million tonnes) and 35.9 million tonnes of corn (35.8 million tonnes a year earlier).
