Thousands of people joined the annual Budapest Pride march on July 24 in a show of support for the LGBT community and to protest a Hungarian law banning the "promotion" of homosexuality or gender reassignment to minors.
The new law, which came into force earlier this month, has become a target of Europe's LGBT community and their allies, putting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's conservative government again at odds with Brussels.
The European Commission last week launched legal action against Budapest over the new law, saying it is discriminatory and contravenes European values of tolerance and individual freedom.

At least six Cameroonian soldiers killed in raid by Islamist insurgents
At least six Cameroonian soldiers were killed and four wounded during an attack by Islamist insurgents on an army outpost in the far north of the country, state broadcaster CRTV said on Saturday. The attack is the deadliest in recent months in northern Cameroon, which alongside neighboring Nigeria and Chad, has been battling the Boko Haram militant group for years and, more recently, militants linked to Islamic State.
Brazilians take to streets again to demand Bolsonaro's impeachment
Protesters took to the streets in several Brazilian cities on Saturday to demand the impeachment of far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, whose popularity has fallen in recent weeks amid corruption scandals against the backdrop of the pandemic. This week, news broke that Brazil's defense ministry told congressional leadership that next year's elections would not take place without amending the country's electronic voting system to include a paper trail of each vote.

Budapest celebrates Pride as protesters hit back at Hungary's rules to restrict 'homosexual propaganda'
The Pride march that snaked its way through Budapest was about much more than just celebrating the city's LGBT+ community. This was a raucous blend of party and protest.
The party was obvious - a blend of lots of people, plenty of noise, a sense of collective purpose and the beating sunshine.
As for the protest - that was pointed at Hungary's adoption of new rules to restrict what the government refers to as "homosexual propaganda".
Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he is protecting traditional family values by curtailing the portrayal of LGBT+ issues in schools and on broadcast channels.

Budapest, Hungary Pride parade to oppose LGBT law draws thousands

BUDAPEST, Hungary — Rising anger over the policies of Hungary’s right-wing government filled the streets of the country’s capital Saturday as thousands of LGBT supporters marched in the annual Budapest Pride parade.
March organizers expected record crowds at the event and called on participants to express their opposition to recent steps by populist Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government that critics say stigmatize sexual minorities in the Central European country.
Budapest Pride spokesperson Jojo Majercsik said this year’s march is not just a celebration and remembrance of the historical struggles of the LGBT movement but a protest against Orban’s current policies targeting gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

Thousands celebrate Pride in Budapest following anti-LGBT legislation
Thousands of Hungarians participated in a Pride parade Saturday in protest of the government's new anti-LGBT legislation, according to a report from Politico.
The Hungarian Parliament in June passed legislation that bans the distribution or content in schools that officials believe "promotes" homosexuality or gender transition. Students under the age of 18 may not be shown any content, including advertisements of this nature. The law was supported by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's party.
However, on Saturday around 30,000 people, including members of the Hungarian Parliament, paraded through Budapest to celebrate the country's LGBT community and challenge the new laws, which have been condemned by the European Commission.

Owen Wilson can't believe he's still making movies with Wes Anderson, more than three decades after they first met at university.
Wilson spoke to IndieWire about the Cannes Film Festival premiere of The French Dispatch, the seventh time he has collaborated with the director.
Anderson and Wilson were roommates at the University of Texas, and in 1992, he and his brother Luke starred in the filmmaker's acclaimed short, Bottle Rocket - which was later turned into a full feature.
Speaking about their relationship, Wilson said: "It does seem amazing when you say it's been almost 30 years since Bottle Rocket. You hear yourself saying... stuff that you remember like your parents saying, 'It doesn't feel like that long ago.' In my mind, I feel sort of the same."

1084 nap után játszhatott ismét mérkőzést a kispesti Bozsik-stadionban a Budapest Honvéd, amelyik a Villareal B csapata elleni gálamérkőzéssel avatta fel új otthonát.
Habár az eredeti ellenfél, az Európa-liga címvédője, a spanyol Villareal a játékosok között megjelenő koronavírusfertőzés miatt pénteken lemondta a kispesti fellépését, a spanyol klub második csapata, a Villareal B azért eljött magyarországra, így mégsem maradt el a találkozó.
