Atletico stay top for now but they will be replaced by Madrid if Zinedine Zidane's side beat Sevilla on Sunday. Barca, meanwhile, remain two points behind Atletico with just three games to play.
Both teams had their goalkeepers to thank for Saturday's result. Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a string of first-half saves to keep Barca in the game, while Jan Oblak produced two fine stops to keep out Lionel Messi. Substitute Ousmane Dembele had a great chance to win it for the home side late on, but the Frenchman headed over when unmarked from just six yards out.

The three remaining European Super League rebels stepped up their criticism of UEFA on Saturday, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus denouncing intolerable threats for their refusal to back down on the prospect of a breakaway competition.
The other nine clubs who formed the ill-fated Super League three weeks ago accepted a settlement on Friday to be fined by UEFA and stay within the open Champions League structure.
“We regret to see that our friends and founding partners of the Super League project have now found themselves in such inconsistent and contradictory position when signing a number of commitments to UEFA yesterday,” Barcelona, Madrid and Juventus said in a joint statement.

Why Queiroz continues to haunt Bafana Bafana nearly two decades later

Last coach to qualify for a World Cup
It’s been 18 years since South Africa last qualified for a World Cup, and the man to do that was Queiroz. However, the Portugal-born coach never ended up taking Bafana Bafana to the finals in Korea and Japan, having vacated his position over what was reported at the time to be unhappiness at having been forced to work with Jomo Sono.
Safa had appointed Sono as a technical director, apparently following concerns over Queiroz’s leadership after South Africa had been knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the 2002 Afcon - a defeat to hosts Mali having been considered a failure. Which is somewhat ironic now after Bafana have repeatedly struggled to even qualify for Afcon finals over the past decade.

Thiago Silva celebrating with Chelsea fans after Real Madrid win seen in new footage

Thiago Silva has proven to be an inspired piece of business by Chelsea.
The Brazilian stalwart was signed on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and he has been one of the Blues' most consistent performers throughout the 2020/21 season.
Silva has made 29 appearances in all competitions, with his most recent coming in Chelsea's 2-0 victory in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Real Madrid.
Like the rest of his colleagues, the 36-year-old excelled against Los Blancos and proved once again how important he is to Thomas Tuchel's playing style.
After the game at Stamford Bridge, fans were understandably in a jubilant mood, celebrating the victory with the Chelsea players as they drove home from the stadium.

MADRID: Zinedine Zidane
(pix) said on Saturday Eden Hazard had apologised to him, the players and the club for laughing with Chelsea players after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit earlier this week.
Hazard joked with Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Edouard Mendy after the fulltime whistle on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge, where Madrid had lost 2-0, and 3-1 on aggregate, to go out in the semifinals.
It prompted an angry reaction from sections of the media in Spain, with Madrid newspaper
Marca claiming Hazard’s “popularity is now at rock bottom”.

Only nine of the 12 European clubs who launched an ill-fated bid to form a Super League have agreed to a peace deal with UEFA and accepted being fined millions of dollars.
The remaining trio of rebels are at risk of being banned from the Champions League for not renouncing the breakaway. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus have refused to approve what UEFA on Friday called “reintegration measures,” and they will be referred to UEFA disciplinary bodies for sanctions after backing the new largely closed competition.

FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus are the only clubs yet to formally renounce The Super League, and UEFA is not taking it lightly. Nine of the 12 founding members have backed away from the breakaway league,
According to the Associated Press, the three “rebel clubs” have refused to accept “reintegration measures” proposed by UEFA and will face a disciplinary process.
That disciplinary process could encompass a ban from UEFA’s premier competition, the Champions League.
The Super League imploded after the English clubs backed off within days of announcing it. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur all bowed to pressure from the UK government and fans worldwide.
