Councilors in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State have reportedly suspended the Chairman of the local government, Wale Adedayo, for three months. His suspension comes after he accused the state governor, Dapo Abiodun of diverting over N17 billion Federal Allocation Funds meant for the local government areas in the state since 2021.

The Ogun State House of Assembly has commenced the probe of alleged diversion of local government funds in the state by the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration. It was learnt that the state lawmakers has summoned the State Accountant-General and members of the Joint Account Allocations Committee over alleged diversion of councils’ allocations, Daily Trust reports.

The council chairperson says illegal seizure of local council funds by Governor Abiodun has incapacitated the state's 20 local councils and brought their officials to ridicule before citizens at the council areas for non-performance.
