El Socorro imam replaces Franklin Khan in Senate

IMAM SHERAZ ALI, head of the Nur-e-Islam mosque in El Socorro Road, San Juan, was sworn in on Tuesday as a permanent government senator to fill the vacancy left by the recent death of former energy minister the late Franklin Khan.
Senators stood for Ali s swearing-in, 45 minutes into the sitting, during which he was greeted by Opposition Senator Wade Mark and Independent Senator Paul Richards.
