came from a fan, you could understand it, but coming from an official club website, it is poor. the issue here is, if the referee is useless, he is useless, but he is not a cheat. it is a integrity issue. that is why our referees are valued around the world because we do not have that issue. some referees make wrong decisions, i have made wrong decisions but i don't do things on purpose. one thing we should not have questioned is our impartiality towards teams. so to name individual and accuse them of cheating isjust so to name individual and accuse them of cheating is just poor value in its entirety. going through the platform x was not the right— going through the platform x was not the right way, it wasn't the right way to— the right way, it wasn't the right way to do— the right way, it wasn't the right way to do it but you have to say that _ way to do it but you have to say that at — way to do it but you have to say that at the _ way to do it but you have to say that at the same time, i have not

what is happening in this courtroom. you have these jurors reading off this jury questionnaire and talking about their impartiality or not. it is a room full of the former president of the united states, secret service agents, all of his attorneys, attorneys for the people along with judge juan merchan. a camera trained on the courtroom with an overflow room and a ton of press. you can imagine the pressure for so many of these jurors and the worry as well that their identity will be figured out to print something that many of them boys they did not want. >> what is interesting in conversation which i had and i know you have been listening to this this afternoon. there are analyst, journalist, expert who are wondering if that same thing may happen as people consider this weekend what lies ahead and what they may be exposed to. i know you will watch that on monday. we will as well and see if we have to head into the alternate jury poll. that is possible.

trump fundamentally cannot have an impartial jury here because all of these people have a steak in the outcome of this case. if we believe the polling of this case will impact the election, everybody the lives in this country's going to be impacted by who is an ex-president. bottom-line it -- >> jesse: such a great point i have not heard it made yet. this isn't your typical criminal trial was 70 gets locked up, okay,, you will probably still be saved, or summaries equated, this impacts everybody's life, notches there is but of the entire countries life. how can you put that aside? >> he campo that is said. even from a fundamental legal perspective, the definition of impartiality is you do not have a steak in the outcome of the case. every single person here whether they can say it or not has a steak because of the lives will be impacted, it is just the inherent issue with this case proceeding at this point. all of this is really problematic. that being said i think john has a chance. >> jesse: why do you think he

because we won't be there and there is no tv coverage. opening statements will be on monday. katy is a former federal prosecutor and talked a little bit yesterday about how all the jurors who will be seated. all 12 of them, plus six alternates have a stake in what happens. >> trump fundamentally can't have an impartial jury here because all of these people have a stake in the outcome of this cases. if we're to believe the polling, then this case will impact the election. and everybody that lives in this country is going to be impacted by who is the next president. even just from fun and mental legal perspective, the definition of impartiality is that you do not have a stake in the outcome of the case every single person whether they can say it or not has a stake. they will be impacted. it's the inherent issue with the case proceeding at this point. all of this is really problematic. but that being said, i think trump has a chance. >> lawrence: that's why i don't understand why they picked this venue. they could have kept the same judge and same d.a. to prosecute

impartiality is crucial in a case like this where this jury is going to make a life-altering decision for the former president and the current gop frontrunner. i expect, dana, the trump team to really focus in on the falsifying of business records in two particular ways. one, there needs to be actual evidence that trump knew how these entries were characterized. something that bill barr used to say to us, people would come and say we think this person is guilty of this or you should bring this case and it feels bad and it feels sleazy and he would always ask a very simple question that would immediately refocus all of us. he would say what is the evidence? and same here. and if, in fact, it was a low level associate at trump toreer who characterized them as legal expenses and retainer and no evidence that trump actually knew how it was characterized, that is a pretty big deal.

96 people times a couple of days. they were looking at nearly 100 people per day. took wednesday off. north of 50% were being kicked out. they seated seven at one point and dismissed two of those they had already confirmed and seated over the idea of impartiality. are you surprised that they seated so many people so quickly yesterday? >> i was not surprised. what really happens in a jury selection is it's not a jury selection, it is actually a jury elimination process. so you are continually filling the jury and then pulling people out. i would expect, harris, that over the next several days, even after trial begins, that you will -- we'll lose a few jurors. you will have jurors have that something come up in their family or some urgent matter and why you see so many alternates.

into. filling out the online form and they say no get into shape before you get into the gym. somebody who worked for hillary clinton got through and they did not notice that? emily, we need to bring it up to times may be ai? >> emily: this is reflecting his wife trump and his team had so many questions about the impartiality. and also the judge. i find it intriguing why juror is posted to it than that their word, but then we are supposed to ignore if it said negative things about his person. the judge is clear that not liking him is separate from being impartial it's hard to hear and how to digest as a person when you raise questions and its phrase as a techie has with her. i find it frankly absolutely unacceptable but the judge will not let or will not approve the prosecution with holding the witness names from trump's team. the explanation is we do not want them to be attacked in social media, doesn't the gag order work?

the good news in terms of looking at this whole system is that look, you have the opportunity for impartiality. the batteries of your donald trump's defense team. these are alternate jurors were talking about knots the primary 12 who might be ultimately deliberating by the end of the day, any one of the 18 who will be set might have to take on the role of the ultimate deliberate and decide the fate of a former president of the united states. some 200 days before a presidential election yeah, the stakes are very high in history is being written as we go. all right. laura coates for us. thanks so much. and evan perez boris let's dig deeper now with cnn legal analysts carry cordero, kerry, thanks so much for being with us this afternoon your view of how jury selection has gone so i think it's gone pretty quickly. really. i mean, given the high-profile nature of the defendant and the fact that this is a former president the fact that they've been able to sort of keep order within the courtroom. i'm sure there was it's very intense security

secret, this is a public trial. which means that information that is given in open court is heard by the reporters who are covering this trial. it is not televised but it is being reported very closely. by various aspects of the media and some of that has been recorded. and one of the jurors seated thought differently about it when her colleagues and family members told her she could be identified based on her employer and the nature of her work and she was quite concerned about that. and so we have this concern from many of the people who are going to be on this panel, not only the questions about their impartiality, but they actually have real fears given the nature of this defendant and those who follow him about whether or not this is going to compromise their safety and make it more difficult for them if they do their civic duty and perform on this jury. >> andrew, same question, and if you do want to weigh in on the
