The pingers may have already stopped. he joins me now live. you have talked to one of your sources who is directly involved with malaysian airlines. tell me the story and what you heard and why that is so critical, david. well, thanks for having me on, ashleigh. this is a really important point. when he contacted me this is a mechanic, they did an audit just did work for malaysian airline, he did an audit and on the maintenance procedures what they do and how they store them. he discovered the pingers replaced every 1,000 hours on this aircraft were stored improperly. they were stored in an area where it was well over 120 degrees, high humidity, and that s not right. when it s that way, he says these pingers will lose life. they re going to only be worth about 15 hours if they re in that storage condition. so he told them about it, they took those old pingers out and replaced with new ones and put them into a refrigerated area, which was great if that was the case if that s where t ....

They are racing against time as new information suggests the batteries or the plane s pingers may already be dead. cnn s safety analyst david susi says a mechanical inspector told him the batteries may have been stored improperly. so the search is expected to begin tomorrow. but at this stage we don t know exactly when because it s still pretty rough weather we re getting reports from down in the search zone. it s important, too, to remember since this latest satellite image came out from thailand, there s been two days of nonflying because of the weather has been so bad there. so any of this debris could well have been scattered over quite a wide area given the strong winds and the high seas and also the normal currents there. so all that combines to make the job a really,raphy tough job even harder. every day they re not flying and searching is certainly a setback for them. ....
